Tulip Time08 January 2013Happy New Year to all our customers and blog readers! Here's to a fabulous 2013 Not surprisingly the flower of the month this month is the Tulip. Often associated with my home country of Holland the Tulip is a perennial, bulbous plant with showy flowers in the genus Tulipa, of which up to 109 species have been described and which belongs to the family Liliaceae] The genus's native range extends from as far west as Southern Europe, Israel, North Africa, Anatolia and Iran to the Northwest of China. The tulip's centre of diversity is in the Pamir, Hindi Kush and Tien Shan mountains. A number of species and many hybrid cultivars are grown in gardens, as potted plants, or to display as fresh-cut flowers. Most cultivars of tulip are derived from Tulipa Gesneriana. Now for the important bit: The Tulip Bulbs are on special offer for the whole month of January! We have a vast selection of varieties to choose from.
