November News03 November 2014I think we can all agree with the fact that we’ve had a great summer. I was certainly sad to see it go when the clocks went back again last month. The short days are now upon us once again and in the dark evenings that warm Christmas feeling is in the air. The lovely autumnal shades are proving very popular with the customers as we are using lots of warm reds, oranges, rusts and yellows in the bouquets and arrangements. We’ve had a great response to the Christmas workshops I announced last month (see dates below) and there are a few spaces left if you managed to forget booking your seat. All your materials are included in the tutorial and of course you create your own piece to take home with you. As I’m writing this note I am preparing for a demonstration in Ireland where I will hopefully be wowing the crowds with some inspirational pieces of floristry. Being a demonstrator can be quite a daunting task sometimes especially when you’re showing your fellow florist colleagues what they can do with their flowers. But fortunately the appreciation after the demonstration always makes it worthwhile doing. Some people talk about stage fright when they’re appearing in front of the audience in a large theatre, well I can share their experiences with them! Work has begun on the Chelsea Flower Show. We’ve written a great schedule for the 2015 competition which will be here before you know it. It’s a year round job although the show is only on for a week, it takes the remaining 51 weeks to get it all prepared. Next month we’ll be in full on Christmas mode. The popular Christmas market on the Avenue Parade that I organise together with Laura from the hairdressers at the end of the parade will be on Thursday the 11th of December. Save the date in your diary now so that you won’t forget to come along and join in the fun and festivities. We’ve got the real life reindeer back again this year that were a real hit with all the kids last year. Right, off I go, flight to catch.
