Flower of the Month April - White Lilies02 April 2012White LILIES, especially “Longis”, are traditionally associated with Easter, but happily you can get them all year round now. We love them even more at this time of year though! I love white lilies because they last such a long time, and they look so dramatic with their huge star-shaped flowers. They seem to suit any style of room, whether it’s modern or classic. Almost everyone loves them so they make excellent gift flowers. Maybe it’s because of their intense perfume. By the way, you don’t have to have just white. Oriental lilies come with stripes of pink, peach or yellow too; and new LA hybrids have soft pastel colours and delicate fragrance. Dennis’ expert tip: When your lilies open, you can take the pollen stamens out – just pinch the ends off with your fingers. Some people prefer the flowers with the stamens. It’s up to you. If you get pollen on fabric, don’t rub it off, or wet it. Get some sticky tape and dab the pollen until it all comes off on the tape
